JUST FOR INSTANCE

24 Jun

Two weeks ago I had a talk with one of my well acquaintance about our progress of learning The English language. With my best respects to her there is a prehistory to land a final conlcusion. Preface in short story sounds like the next: She has contstantly been studying The English for four years at the university, and had had studied at the school as well. I had been started my journey of learning in the freshman year only. But as everyone knows that years aren’t saying about our experience on any language at all. I guess our published posts are.

I took my process very diligently after a few fails in the lections in public tests at the university and made a room to learn something new each day so far. I’m pretty sure that it is working on in the best sense of the word.

A week ago I ended up with the conclusion that all my best results aren’t well enough to be serious to say about my casual life in Russian language in which I’m talking either about what I’ve been done nor what I would had been done at that time in each evening to publish in a manner of weblog’s diary. And as I could say she’d been interrupted by me.

I’d say that her way of pronunciation isn’t perfect or even not so good to talk about and a little bit about her ‘way’ of describing her ideas and so on so forth. Might be it was hurtfull or something but let’s be honest without any ‘buts’ to say the things ‘as is’. She said a few words about my ‘ungrammatical’ structures of ‘thoughts’ but she had skipped a ‘tags’ had had written like: ungrammatical flow of thoughts or smth. on nikanorovalbert.wordpress.com. I’m not trying to be better than anyone to talk like this. The one thing is I would have to say about my blogs are:

I dare to say to be not fluent by explaining what I’m doing and why. The main aim isn’t this. That’s all. I have no idea about my grammatical and other stuff because of the main idea is to save my local ‘to and fro’ thoughts. This is it.

In his 1959 classic, The Sociological Imagination, the great sociologist C. Wright Mills told students of the discpline:

“As a social scientist, you have to … capture what you experience and sort it out; only in this way can you hope to use it to guide and test your reflection, and in the process shape yourself as an intellectual craftsman. But how can you do this? One answer is: you must set up a blog…
In such a blog … there is joined personal experience and professional activities, studies under way and studies planned. In this blog, you … will try to get together what you are doing intellectually and what you are experiencing as a person. here you will not be afraid to use your experience and relate it directly to various work in progress. By serving as a check on repetitious work, your blog also enables you to conserve your energy. It also encourages you to capture ‘fringe-thoughts’: various ideas which may be byproducts of everyday life, snatches of conversation overheard in the street, or, for that matter, dreams. Once noted, these may lead to more systematic thinking, as well as lend intellectual relevance to more directed experience.
…The blog also helps you build up the habit of writing. … In developing the blog, you can experiment as a writer and this, as they say, develop your powers of expression.”

Actually, he called it a ‘file’ instead of blog, but the point remains the same: becoming a professional journalist requires practice and writing is a powerful aid to reflection.

So that’s what this blog is. I write here about thoughts I have, things I’m working on, stuff I’ve read, experiences I’ve had, and so on. Whenever a thought crystalize or not in my head, I type it up and post it here. I don’t read over it, I don’t show it to anyone, and I dont’t edit it – I just post it. I’m like Google in the fisrt years. All posts are beta or even alpha ‘analogs’ of Google’s programs has been uploaded on the internet for free to everyone with the word ‘beta’.

I don’t consider this writing, I consider this thinking. I like sharing my thoughts and I like hearing yours and I like practicing expressing ideas, but fundamentally this blog is not for you, it’s for me. I hope that you enjoy it anyway.

A draft as a usual. Thanks to Annie for that thinking. I will update this post as soon as possible to re-write  either here or there.

A new day, a new chance to make something substantial

5 Jun

In the last two days I’d been writing about motivational stuff concerning me and my current works. And you know what? I logged off from social networks again yesterday. Not so big deal, but I even couldn’t catch up what I did that in shortest period of time even didn’t thinking about it. Automatically, I just sent a message to one of my internet folks ‘The last three on the island’. Actually, it was my last session at least in this week and may be more. I do not want to say exactly that I logged off from the universe and don’t want come back anymore, but anyway that was I need to take step action in the last three days.

As you know I created an account on Medium. These guys turn on a possibility to write our own stuff in view of posts finally. And I posted one stuff so far. Here’s the link. In this month I will do my best to keep learn my languages and to promulgate (as a usual) about my days and thoughts, what I’m doing, why I’m doing this etc. etc. and trying to learn exams’ ticket before the exams itself even in four or five days earlier than event coming evening. If you’re understood what I wanted to jabber. Okay, and I ended up with conclusion that my ‘annoying’ voice that why I cannot do that question wasn’t coincidentally. I think that I give up my ‘hard-earn’ minutes and my current hours are so easy to live on. Actually. I cancelled all my programming and language courses by the reason of final tests and exams at the university.

Okay, a little bit about posted notes on Blogger and why I was so touchable and naive in my thinking? The answer to this question is: I was totally drunk. Yeah, and as you know again: Talk is cheap, silence is expensive. But I had to post them even on my blogs. So and so. I started to follow each re-blogged my following users reblogs on Tumblr. Again, I do not know why, but I think it’s all about marketing techniques by feedbacks and likes when users with ‘low high’ followers will come back to check your account and if so to follow you and start to reat what are you sharing and posting. Let’s be honest, why we are doing it actually? Of course not only to look at nice looking photograped by professional models, of course not&

So today I’ve plans to figure out why my cartridge printing on A4 with not equal lines of black-and-white. I’m getting to be nervous by seeing at them after printed papers of my pdf’s books on computer. Yeah, it’s very and very annoying to see ‘shit’ looking learn stuff.

Is this the future for sharing with the books collobaritevely by paying for one copy just one time?

Is this the future for sharing with the books collobaratively by paying for one copy for one time? It’s sounds utopian, it is. Just imagine this scenario of our future for paying to read a book one time by one person. And there would be one place where this person will have a platform to sharing with this one copy anonymously or publicly as a author of.

I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. Three days ago I released a concept page of that was barely an idea a couple month ago – thepiratebooks.org. I think it’s fair to say that this time come true and I didn’t quite know how reaction would be. But it was. Not so impressive I would have to say. The project is in lite version, and even I didn’t uploaded a collected files to share but I just wanted to know the reaction of my friends what they will say about the idea and how impressively they will support to share with their copies of books. I failed.

In case you missed it, the thepiratebooks.org is alive for posting by everyone. thepiratebooks.org, is my idealistic and fictional concept for a everyone who can read. It has one purpose, and only one purpose: enabling ‘shares’ with ‘if you want to read this book you have to pay in cash’ for free for the masses by the person why had paid in cash.

To do it quickly, easily, beautifully and efficiently. The thepiratebooks.org is about breaking down the same barriers that Amazon originally did for selling e-books. The main aim of thepiratebooks.org the same but with one little difference: share, if you paid your cash to buy a book in amazon.com, share with your copy of ‘knowledge’ with everyone all over the world for free. It’s a cornerstore value and in what I believe personally.

All the knowledge we have today, all the progress we’ve made, are based on this simple fact – we copy. A spirit of free access to information and knowledge and today book burnings are done digitally, by blocking or closing down internet services that has non-profit believes that e-book have to be paid one time and the future of copy is let it fly for free by everyone who hasn’t enough money in order to take these flows of information to improve our world to more better place for sharing with worth to reading ideas for free.

Just having another person around is really nice, though, BUT.

19 May

I’ve always been afraid of sharing space with other people. I almost thought of dropping out of university if I had to share a room. And when I was living in the dorm mostly I had been dreaming the day where I’m moving to separate room. Because I couldn’t dropped out because of it seems odd and still, that people around me would had been gossip that Albert dropped out because of he couldn’t live in the dormitory with other folks. In my environ at that time it was sounds like ‘that he’d failed to live with other equal guys because of he’d acting like a flabby, or even was a flabby, characterless young man. I didn’t want to be amoung these gossipness about me in mouth of absolutely unknown for me people. I didn’t care, but my parents really care about it, and I understand them 🙂 Thanks to my parents that supported me at that time with blessings and with life’s advices how to interact with people than couldn’t understand you inner world.

‘Planning,’ I say, ‘makes sense when you’re solving a predefined problem or working for somebody who is defining the problem for you. But it doesn’t make sense when you’re hacking. When you’re hacking, as Paul Graham likes to note, you’re actually figuring out what the problem is, exploring the problem space. It’s through writing the code that you figure out what the code should do. You can’t plan that.’

I, meanwhile, have been struggling with my own demons — mainly procrastination. Programming is an odd task in that it requires so much mental discipline that your mind is often afraid of doing it. Worse still is the fact that it happens at a computer, usually one with an Internet connection, so there’s hardly any visible difference between actually doing your work and running off to check your email or read the news. It’s incredibly frustrating to snap out of a bit of newsreading and realize you just wasted a couple of hours.

What had changed so far?

The 3 last post was tagged as a ‘copy-and-paste‘ and the statistics started to decrease my readers at once. I paused a little bit because of I was blamed by the facts that I’m loosing my good sense of writing. But all these stuff was just winter time of my learning time because today me and Anna had been walking to a bus stop directly when I had started to talk in English language and I felt more self-confidence to convince myself that I’m becoming more and more proud of my own ability to say something what I want to say in the English language. That’s spring time of my exquisitely painful learning process that I started a couple years ago. The matter is to jungly with more colourful words by using more ‘absolute’ techniques by others, I mean by environ. And this experience as I hope will help me to do the same to learning other languages.

I really advice you to start read here. By clickin’ through the pasted link you’ll find an archive of Aaron‘s raw thoughts that I copied as a headline on this blog. Thanks Aaron, R.I.P. But the other side of question is I found this link when I had been scrolling my newsfeed (I do not know how to spell it correctly, anyway) on G+ that was shared by one of the admired by me folks programmers. After when I clicked on in I was very surprised badly that in the beginning of the post the guy whose name is Edmond ‘copied-and-pasted’ almost whole passages from the post of Aaron. I mean the text about ‘social science experiment’ by psychologist Carol Dweck. If I’m not mistaken of coures, and I posted the next comment below to the post:

“The most part of your thoughts I was reading on the blog of Aaron Swartz and others, but I subscribed in the hope that the future ideas will be really worth to clicking. A few words about shared links: a less more useful links, and most of by annoying amazon books that have to be paid to read. Anyway, the good idea that you started :)” – Thanks to DISQUS that build up an amazing comment framework.

Let’s keep our discussion about the article. It’s really good idea to gather all useful to be read information about engineering in the programming and to share with ideas of others that working on this field of Interet Technologies. I remember one late winter night a long time ago where I’d been programming many nights and reading about engineering folks and how these guys had learned to manage their time to be productive. So I thought that it would be not bad to share with the same info in the Russian language the problem was only to find those folks and I thought as well that it would be useful for me as a journalish and a programmer to make some connections and have some experiment how to interview in real life. (May be via the online too: e-mail, social networking sites, mailing lists etc etc. There are lots of techniques to connent with anyone instantly).

So the differense is between my and Edmond that he has a result excepting me. I can just talk about ‘what I would do in this situation’ comparing with Edmund that started to make, to do without any talking at all events with me. And he has result and I’m commenting and even subscribed to receive updates via e-mail. Nice have done buddy!

So add to these conclusions I have some news. I started to blog on wallmarkets.ru, and come back with my learning process of languages. I’m not frustrated by thinking that wasted so much time bwt these days. Not at all. I printed a new calendar, and some useful pages (fragments) from books that I’ve been reading and enjoying. Thank you guys, all these things are about to use more words  in my future posts to mark deepest side of my personification.

Is this the second coming of wallmarkets.ru? Not likely

facebook_2_1

There is a few major hubs of social activity by using mix of techniques: advertising, promotion, word-of-mouth campaigns, how to handle more traffic, engagement etc etc. And the thing is all about to interact with customers (with future and present) and the facebook is one of places to marketing a new product to reach new clients to get more feedbacks and so on.

To build a transparent environment, freely discuss between consumers and marketer to flow balance. And the gossip about if you have facebook page you don’t really need a web site anymore. Do you agree with this? Me, not!

But one part I like. Social networking sites offers me/you the opportunity to get my/your message to all these gender demographics for free and its customer base is an efficient way to reach our and expand the name of the product, in particular ‘wallmarkers’. It’s clear and patiently obvious but to reach them all efficiently and get back feedbacks by expanded audience is the most important and hard to achieve quickly, in my case.

There’s facebook’s pages are probably the best option to create a web-site by one click for free + potental customers that had been scrolling 5-minutes news and interactions with comments with their buddies on the online where you can reach the attention in the fastest way even by liking every post of every photos in every pages. People loves to come back and see over and over again on and on who liked ‘them’.

For instance, there is a facebook’s pages, and lots of them are for public figures, brands who want to establish a presence and start to interacting with fans. In my situation, I’m not famous guy and it would be hard to me to interact with zero fans and in the current situating to create public page is just waste of time and spamming your facebook’s friends. There have to be a product, or public face that created the page to chat with his/her wider audience via the online.

Entertainment companies, such as movie studios, book publishers, and music labels are the best example to start interact with customers. And when’re are talking about our feelings and thoughts with our friends by direct messaging this is sort of marketing of our personality by as I said through fastest ways to tell about us, actually. What we’re doing and why we’re doing it to be interesting to more people than we could be in real life.

Deal B%ks – Connecting the dots

A few words about Sector of foreign literature in the Scientific library of the North Eastern Federal University named after M. K. Ammosov.

Systematically organized collection of worldwide known magazines and authentic books utterly surprises you at the first sight when you enter this room – that was my first impression as an eager reader in the  Scientific library of NEFU.

“The New York Times”, “Scientific American”, “Newsweek”, “The Economist”- such a range of best publications in the periodicals and original books of famous and not very famous foreign writers as well, in the distance of several steps to us, that was a big impact for me. So, how about the New Yorker? That’s not the problem; you can find it just typing on the browser of local computer machine where I’m typing this article, too, for future readers.

But there is another question: How about sources in other languages? How about German? French? Japan? Yes, there are 12 languages all in all. You’ll find almost any of them find, at least one book or a magazine for your aims.  As for me, since my first visit (May 2011) till nowadays I got used to sit here day by day.

Then, is it an open minded friendly atmosphere here? Definitely! Just one word: Britannica. WHY? It is a room where such a collection is kept! So just open one of them in order to get access to the wisdom of the world, and dive into your theme of research etc. etc. to finish it around the archive of human being that will not be published in paper version anymore. Nostalgia J

At least all of us will be deeply impressed by reading these works in such a kind of, as I said, atmosphere of calm and concentration.

Everything is supposed to be real: to find the right material for developing one’s education or just approaching a dream – it may come true in this room. Not bad. When I was a child I had dreamed about reading “The New York Times” and other US newspaper so that after entering the university there was a great surprise by the fact that I had found almost all of them in one place near the main building where I’m studying journalism. Wow! 5 rubles a day and you can take home any magazine or book. Really! Yes, my dream had half come true now.

But the sector of foreign literature has some problems to my mind. For example this year the sector got only five books from abroad. But Vera Petrovna (head of the sector) thinks it’s not bad and believes that situation will improve in the future.

In my humble opinion to take an authentic book with a smell of worn out pages is the best studying experience than touching hi-tech retina displays, which may be good, but old school is good school, even better school — of passed past times.

Myconversation with Vera Petrovna:

1)      Good afternoon Vera Petrovna, tell me a little about your feelings at your first coming here for your first workday?

Answer: My feelings were similar to yours. In the nineties, with the falling of “iron curtain” we all enjoyed somehow or other a sense of freedom.

2)      How long have you been working here? What kind of problems did you face in the library during these long eighteen years?

Answer: Since 1994 we faced different small and great problems. Some were solved, some are being solved till now. We had established cooperation with foreign partners for international book exchange: Library of Congress (U.S.A.), Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (Germany), Columbia University, European Section of Book exchange and others. We had subscribed to several foreign periodicals to satisfy our users’ needs.

But what upsets me, it’s the fact that there are few people who really try to widen their outlook or study foreign languages exceeding the limits of learning process. But still there are such persons.

3)      The next question is about the total book fund of your sector:  how many books of foreign writers one can find here?

Answer: Nearly five thousand in total. Scientific books, fiction. So we have “Great Books of the Western World” – 60 volumes, from Homer to Kafka, about 130 authors and original texts. Nearly every book is published abroad and has an only copy.

4)      I’ve found so many dictionaries that helped me with my reports and my topics in English and some dictionaries of oriental languages that were useful, too. Who provides you with such materials?

Answer: Some dictionaries were ordered, some – acquired in a common way.

Some oriental dictionaries were presented. By the way, recently, two Korean – Russian dictionaries were presented to our sector by the rector of NEFU Mikhailova Evgenia Isaevna

5)      If we compare the total book fund of the nineties and the present time what sort of changes had happened and is going to, may be, for the near future? I mean that the university has now the status of “federal”.

Answer: In the nineties we supplied our collection from leading Moscow and other central libraries of Russian Federation, and by means of book exchange with foreign partners. Now we can claim for books, but it should have financial support. And we go on cooperating with foreign partners, e.g. Library of Congress, which cooperates with the whole world. And we get literature from China and Korea as well.

6)      Thank you very much for your answers and I hope that after this publication you’ll meet your future readers to find right answers to questions. What do you need for your library except books?

Answer: We need users and readers for the library, because libraries work for people, for their needs, interests and their education.
